GUA-SHA BACK MASSAGE | Nava Yoga

GUA-SHA BACK MASSAGE

This traditional form of Chinese massage can be called the scrape massage, because it is performed with a special instrument – a plate that resembles a scrape or a comb and is made of nephritis and of water ox horn or cow horn. The plate is impregnated with 18 different medicines.

The name itself translates as follows: Gua – movement towards a side, scraping; Sha – everything bad. Therefore – to scrape out the bad.

Slow movements and a light pressure characterize Gua-Sha massage. Our inner organ meridians are located on the back; thus, by treating them with the plate, the energies are diverted where they are necessary and evened out where they have accumulated.

At first the skin becomes red and a little burning up and bruises may appear but they do not hurt.  They are a sign that toxins are being eliminated! They disappear after 2 – 3 days.

Session length 45min.
